Fire Extinguishers
 |
Whatever your event, or your
business requirements. You require peace of mind for
your customers and your staff alike. If you don't your
breaking the Law. But not only that if you don't provide
fire extinguishers and a member of your staff gets
burned, they could be off work for months, and you will
have to replace a skilled worker.
New European laws have
put the onus on employers to assess
their own risks and to maintain general fire safety
measures to fight, detect and give warning of fire, to
plan exit routes and to keep those routes clear, to
ensure the safe evacuation of persons via emergency
routes and exits in the work place which do not have a
fire certificate. |
One Earth Events Can provide Fire Extinguishers and can
provide maintenance for them through a Partner organisation.
FIRE CERTIFICATION
If more than 20 people are at work at a time, or more than
10 people are working on a floor other than the ground
floor, commercial premises require a Fire Certificate under
the Fire Precautions Act, 1971.
PORTABLE EQUIPMENT
Portable fire-fighting equipment, conforming to British
Standard EN3:1996, must be readily accessible, simple to
operate and clearly labelled, with designated persons
nominated to implement these measures.
YOUR RESPONCIBILITY
Just as the European law has specified that Employees are
responsible for fire safety the law also specifies that as
an Employer You are responsible for the "Health, Safety and
Welfare of your employees and any one on your site"
Annual Inspection Service and Maintenance By a Competent
Person
In order to conform to British Standard 5306: Part 3, you
should ensure that all fire extinguishers are inspected,
serviced and properly maintained at least once a year.
These procedures must be carried out by a competent Banham
engineer trained according to EEC and British Standards, who
will make sure that appliances are: sited correctly, fully
operational and not damaged in any way.
A maintenance record card attached to each extinguisher will
be completed and signed at the time of the visit.
